This is one of the best and fanciest restaurants you could go to. Yes, they might have high prices for their food, but it is worth every penny. They have such amazing meals and staff and drinks too. You'll never leave montage without feeling full. Defienitley go to this restaurant for a night out with girls or a family reunion or any special occasion:)

Very nice place! On the pricier side so I would say it's more for special occasions but worth the money. Service is great. Servers & hostesses are friendly. Food comes in a timely manner. The sugar cookie martini & mushroom appetizer are the best!

Ate here while overnighting with RAGBRAI. Food and drinks were great. Service awesome. Had the spinach salad with warm dressing and the grilled salmon. Will definitely go again if ever I am back in Sioux Falls.

This is one of my favorite locations in CF. It's great if you're looking for reasonably priced fine dining. They have a wide range of options on the menu, which suits anyone's need. Decor matched the presentation of the dish, and the food tastes great. Id recommend the pinion crusted grouper!

I was in Cedar Falls this week on a business trip, and was taken to Montage for a group dinner. It's an unassuming restaurant that looks small and bar-like from the outside, but inside is a nice dining experience. Our group took up most of one of their dining areas, but they didn't seat anyone else in the room we were in, which I thought was nice since we were probably pretty loud. The servers were all very attentive, and I barely got to finish my drink before the waitress serving the group asked me if I'd like another. I was impressed by the level of service here; everyone was well dressed, extremely friendly, and helpful. I stuck to pomegranate cosmos for the night, and they were quite tasty! I did notice that they had a decent, though small, beer list, and an AMAZING wine list. The wine list took up over half of the menu. Their menu is pretty broad, ranging from burgers and pizza to steaks and seafood to Italian entrees. For appetizers, my table ordered sauteed mushrooms (I didn't try those), Bruschetta (which was good, though they only gave us 4 pieces for a table of 5), and a cheesey-chicken dip served with blue corn chips. The dip was ok; I didn't really fancy the taste or consistency. For dinner, I ordered a sirloin, medium rare, with a side of their spicy sweet potatoes. The sirloin came out slightly under cooked in the center, but it was a really thick cut. The sweet potatoes were super delicious though. Those around me got their special house potatoes, which were apparently also very good. For dessert, I ordered creme brulee, which was on point. I also tried a bite of their chocolate souffle, which was heavenly. Overall, the place was really great for a large group. There were 4 tables, holding 5+ people at each. The prices are closer to $$$ per person than $$, unless you're ordering just an entree and a glass of water. There were some people dressed very casually there (Star Wars leggings, anyone?) but most of the patrons were dressed nicely. I can see this place being great for a nice date night.

This is one of the nicest restaurants in the Cedar Valley! My friend always asks me to go here and he says "Were beasts for going here when were so young." The food is amazing and the service is always impeccable. The pricing is a little high, but you are getting what you pay for. I either get the New York Strip or sometimes my pal pays for me and I feel bad so I just get a salad. The salad is full of greens and vegetables, and although it's rather small, it is $8. Last time I was there, my pal was paying for me so I got the salad, and he got raspberry chipotle pasta, which is amazing! I had a few bites, and I am definitely getting it next time I go there! If you are looking for a nice place to eat, and are not afraid to spend money, I would go here!

This is the best restaurant to hit up if your ever in the Waterloo-/ Cedar falls area looking for fine dining. The food is to die for and the service is always impeccable. No matter what you order at the montage you'll surely feel like you are like a king after. The montage offers free bread and butter that is second to none to start you off right. I got the raspberry chipotle pasta as my entree, and was extremely satisfied with this very rich and creamy pasta boasted with quality ingredients. I'm a very big fan of the chocolate lava cake usually for desert, but was feeling cheap tonight.

I'm really not too sure why Montage is listed on here as Italian. Puns fully intended, it is a montage of American-ethnic fusion. Unlike a place like Cheesecake Factory, the menu is at a comfortable size with enough variety to take care of everyone's palate and with a gourmet twist. I've been there twice with groups of people. Every time I've not heard a single complaint, and everyone's meals looked well executed. My first meal there was a blackberry pork tenderloin on a lemon-scented couscous. The lemon literally was just a slight hint in the couscous, but the sweet and spicy blackberry sauce stole the show anyways so it wasn't even missed. I liked how the pork was barely drizzled with sauce, with beautiful dark purple ribbons of sauce on the outer sides of the plate so you could dip as you please. I was glad I could even enjoy the wonderful flavor of the pork on its own. My second meal allowed me to sample several more dishes, since I was with a large group and we ordered some appetizers. All were great! I really loved the goat cheese torte. Of the 3 apps we ordered, that one stood out the most. The crab cakes were great as well, but it was a small portion so not great for maybe a party of 4 or more. I ordered a New York Strip steak rare, and that's just how it came to me. My risotto was delicious as well. For dessert I opted for the chocolate soufflé and it was the perfect accompaniment to my last few sips of Cabernet. It was gooey and rich and the perfect balance of bitterness from the chocolate and not too sweet. Service is always great; servers are young but for working in a more upscale setting they present themselves with much more polish than I've seen at nice restaurants in other cities with servers who have had a little more time in the business. The Old Fashioned I had was fantastic, and I've not had a bad glass of wine yet.

On a recommendation from YELP, we gave it a shot. Montage was outstanding! Every staff member was personable and professional. The service was excellent. We dined on the rooftop, when the weather was perfect. I hade the spinach salad, with raspberry chipotle dressing and they nailed it. The Iowa chop was also perfectly prepared and served with the Montage Potatoes. Excellent combination. Great restaurant in a great downtown setting.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. I ate here twice on my business trip to Cedar Falls and enjoyed both plates immensely. The servers are knowledgable about the wines and the cocktails are creative and delicious. The seasoning of the plates could use a little work but otherwise it's top notch.

Absolutely can't go wrong by visiting Montage to celebrate any event - big or small. Visit the upstairs lounge for a bottle of wine and some appetizers and you will experience a very attentive staff, a great wine selection and some excellent food - all while enjoying a very relaxing ambiance. For bigger celebrations, the main dining areas (varying sized rooms) are equally as inviting. Our family of 4 recently celebrated all four birthdays and our wedding anniversary (all 5 dates within 6 weeks of each other) with a family meal the other night. The only way it could have been better was if we were served the meal in our own home. Every attention to detail is focused on by the owners and their staff. The menu offers something for everyone with unique selections. This is the crown jewel of establishments in the downtown Cedar Falls area. Casual or formal, you will feel welcomed and leave satisfied.

The food was good until I got a hair on it. The waitress did not think any of it. Did not even apologize.

We were in Cedar Falls for one evening chose the Montage based on their proximity to the hotel and the on-line menu. I was impressed by the surroundings and was surprised at the wines that were being offered. Particularly there was an excellent Pinot Noir from Oregon. However, the food was a disappointment. Here are the comments on the food. Spinach Goat Cheese Salad - My wife and I shared this. The salad itself was fine but the hot citrus dressing was too sweet and contained herbs that did not complement the spinach Hoisin Glazed Pork Loin. - This was my entree. Sorry the glaze was overly sweet and was not spicy. In this case the loin would have been better minus this glaze Pasta Alfredo - butter, cream and parmesan cheese on penne pasta. - This was my wife's entree. I am not sure why they used the term Alfredo in the name because it was really nothing more than noodles with butter and Parmesan. Really, we have had better at home as a quick and easy meal.

In the upper price range for cedar falls... But tier service, food and importantly their atmosphere justifies this. If you've tried it once but aren't sold, try the hoisin salmon, you'll be sold. Best food in Cedar Falls.

Love this place! I have family in Cedar Falls and look forward to eating and visiting with friends and family in the up stairs bar every time I come to town. My favorite dish is the pinon crusted grouper. SO YUMMY! The wait staff is always fantastic too. They have an amazing wine list and are good with recommendations. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Had a great time here a couple weeks ago! Our server was so wonderful and friendly. We of course ordered the spinach and goat cheese salad with the hot citrus dressing (my fave!) but they left off the oranges :( We also got a couple of appetizers to share, the mini crabcakes with chipolte sauce and the bacon wrapped scallops in hoison sauce. They were both really good! It had been a while since I've been here but am looking forward to coming back again for a full meal.

Traveling through Cedar Falls we had dinner at Montage. The menu offered many tempting choices both for appetizers and for entrees. Unable to decide among entrees we decided to go small plates and ordered several apps to share. From smoky chipotle hummus to shrimp cocktail to crab cakes and black bean corn cakes each dish was delightful. Montage also has a well constructed wine list with new and old world wines at a variety of price points. Service was good although our waitress seemed to still be learning the menu. Montage deserves praise for a creative menu of well prepared dishes in an attractive environment.

I have to give 2 stars to the lack of an ability to cook a filet mignon medium. I don't live here but I travel occasionally to the area and have eaten here at least 6 times. I was here on business about a year or so, ordered a filet medium and it had come out completely well done. Another previous trip probably another year previous, same exact thing!! Back again today, I had dinner tonight and ordered a filet ($28) and asked for it medium, just to show my fellow diners that maybe they figured out how to cook the tender filet. NOPE! Well done again, I cannot believe it. It cannot be that hard given that they slice it relatively thin, on the bias, almost as a way to keep it simple for the line cooks they apparently employ to NOT OVERCOOK!! Anyway, waitress did what she could to try and fix it and I did tip her well for the efforts, not her fault. New filet then came out on the rare side of med-rare...........back to the kitchen it went........Garlic mash taters were very good though... Avoid the steaks. It is apparently amateurs trying to cook those. I also have to question whether I come here again next time but I have had good food here, the empanadas come to mind and the pastas have been OK.

We were at UNI and went here for dinner. Service was great and the food excellent. A lot to choose from. Ask about the specials, including special side dishes. We had a goat cheese risotto that was awesome. Try the chocolate soufflé for dessert!

I am baffled by some of the reviews listed here. I have lived in Cedar Falls for 26 years and I have eaten at Montage dozens of times. I have never received an overcooked filet mignon or had anything but the finest service. I also don't understand listing Montage as an Italian restaurant, just because they offer pasta dishes. Here is the lowdown from a local. Montage is the best restaurant in this area. While their menu is not extensive, it offers a nice variety of choices. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with an arty decor by local artist Gary Kelley. The meals are consistently excellent and the waitstaff is professional and accommodating. They have a selective, well-chosen wine list. My wife and I will keep eating here regularly, because Montage has earned our business. My favorite meals are the peanut sauce dishes (seafood or chicken), the filet mignon and beef kabobs, the sea bass with tomatillo salsa, and the wonderful slaw salad and Montage potato side dishes. For desert try the creme brulee.

I really enjoy Montage and suggest it to anyone who wants a nicer meal. I especially suggest you try and get one of the window seats upstairs, overlooking downtown Cedar Falls. It's a beautiful view and very relaxing. Food: Get the seasonal pastas. They never fail to delight. Montage does a very good job of putting together some great seasonal pastas that are flavorful and different from what you're used to. Make sure you try it. They also have a pretty good wine selection and the upstairs lounge area is certainly a nice place to enjoy an evening with a small group of friends. Service: I agree with a few others on here, it could be better. But it really depends on the night and the server. I've had a few very good service experiences here, as well as a few less than favorable ones. Atmosphere: Pretty good but depends on where you are seated and how busy it is. As mentioned before, there are a few great scenic seats, as well as a few cozy corners for small groups. Exposed brick walls and modern fixtures/art add to the ambiance.

My favorite spot in Cedar Falls/Waterloo. The sea bass with mango and tomatilla salsa is one of their best options. They also have some of the best martinis in the area. In the land of cheesy potatoes and brown food this is a great option with fresh ingredients.

I've generally had pretty good meals here, and for a while, it was our go to business dinner location, so I've had quite a few. The waitstaff is generally eager and friendly, though they occasionally are a tad inexperienced with the menu (there seems to be high server turnover). The food, while not super adventurous, is generally well prepared. The pork chops, steaks, and seafood have never let me down. 2 complaints. First, like Nick said, there hasn't been an update in the menu in years, if ever. I've only lived here a few years, but my understanding is that it is the same menu they opened with. They do have a special most nights which helps this a little. Second, the bread with the goat cheese torta (which is excellent) is always cold (which is nasty). They clearly plate the appetizer early in the day, and just stick it, bread and all, in the fridge. This really doesn't make sense, but they are nice enough to warm the bread if you know to ask.

Pretty unimpressive for the price. It looks like it'd be better than it was. Too bad. I'd never go back.

Out of town for daughters birthday chips with uneventful dip appetizer followed by overpriced pasta and a salad entre that needed to be sent back because of unrequested onions and peppers. Apparently upscale without delivering that level of food.

Sorry Chad and Kirun had bad experiences, but we've been to Montage 3 times and have always had outstanding food and friendly service at a very reasonable price. This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions.
